Camping improvements at the Retreat Vegan Animal Sanctuary
Hi folks, we are firming up things for the shower and toilet build at the Retreat Animal Sanctuary April (24th – 29th) 2024. Currently we have 5 of us coming for the build but the more the merrier.
Help needed.
If you have any materials you can bring like pallets, plumbing supplies, roofing materials, misc things that you think might be useful.
Do you have a van to help collect things like pallets or sheet materials etc
If anyone is a plumber or electrician by trade, or if you are just a handy person
Are you local and can pick up items from Facebook ,ebay, materials from friendly local suppliers and drop them off at the Retreat either before or over the build period?
We also hope to have some fun, maybe the odd camp fire, it won’t be all work.
You can camp on the site and also there will be some space in the cottages we can use.

You can help The Retreat Animal Sanctuary raise thousands of pounds EVERY year by donating to our Shower and Toilet Block build.
We are a small group of unpaid volunteers who will be building these facilities for them. Currently when camping or other events are held there, it costs thousands of pounds to hire in facilities, which otherwise would help fund the care of their animals.
Depending on how much we get, we will be building between 2 and 4 toilets and 2 and 4 showers, with washing up sinks, outside wash areas etc.
All money paid goes straight to the The Sanctuary’s account, which they will then pass to us to buy the materials.
Wherever possible we will use recycled materials.
If there is any surplus money left over, this will go to the running of the Sanctuary.
We would also welcome any donations of suitable materials that you might be able to take to the site (please contact us first for the list of materials we need) or offers of help for the build in the last week of April (24th – 29th) 2024

Vegan Camp 2024 will be at
The Retreat Animal Rescue Farm Sanctuary and Cafe and Plantry (Vegan Pantry) , High Halden, Kent, TN26 3LJ where we will have our own field.

Vegan Camp is a friendly and enjoyable annual social gathering for singles, couples and families. Each year we choose a new location with people coming to stay for day visits all the way up to the full two weeks.
For the past 41 summers, a group of vegans (and those willing to be vegan for at least the duration of the camp) will have met at numerous venues throughout the country.
We usually have between 80 to 120 people campers, many of us have been coming for 20 years and more, whilst others are more recent members.
We are a diverse group whose ages range from babies up to those in their 80’s, with singles, couples and families attending. Some people come every year. Some come when we are in their area.
What is consistent is the friendly, helpful and fun atmosphere at our camps. . We have many children attending each year and it is an ideal time for them to meet other vegan children. Children and adults too form many friendships at the camp.
